Parents, our AR theme this year is "'The Circus/Carnival." Our goal is to motivate reading with circus themes throughout the year. We will do a clown unit, practice juggling, and visit the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus on February 3, 2012. Other activities will transpire as the year progresses. We will have a clown day where students dress up as clowns and we will have parent volunteers to apply make up after the students get to school on that day. More to come at a later date. Please encourage your child to listen to children's literature as you read to them nightly. Parents should focus on characters and objects of the story. Also the setting and plot are important while reading these books to your children. The beginning, middle, and end of the story is important for students to retell. At a later date students will bring home a baggie book where they read to you as you facilitate when needed. I am looking forward to a wonderful reading adventure with your children.
