ASU Mountaineer

Dudley Shoals Elementary is being honored by ASU for having the best participation in the Mountaineer Summer Reading Program.  Dr. Duke, (Dean of Reich College of Education - ASU) will be presenting an award to our school.  Dudley Shoals Elementary averaged 1,592 books circulated per week last summer.

  • Pre-Kindergarten - Fifth Grade.
  • Enrollment of approximately 550 students.
  • School of Excellence:  2002-2003, 2003-2004, 2004-2005, 2005-2006, 2006-2007
  • School of High Growth: 2007-2008 
  • School of Distinction:  2000-2001
  • State ABC Exemplary School:  1996-1997, 1997-1998, 1998-1999, 1999 - 2000.
  • 1996-1997 Top 25 School in Academic Growth.
  • Reduced class size in Grades 2 and 3.
  • School-wide participation in Accelerated Reader Program.
  • School-wide use of Reading Renaissance.
  • Participation in Accelerated Math Grades 2-5.
  • Programs used by teachers include:  Pat Cunningham's 4 Block Instruction, Positive Discipline, D'Nealian Handwriting,  Sonday, Letterland, Accelerated Reader, Accelerated Math, and DARE.
