SCHOOL HISTORY OF HUDSON MIDDLE SCHOOL What is now Hudson Middle School was originally built in 1955 and served as Hudson High School until 1977, when it became Hudson Junior High School, which served grades 7-9. In 1990, it became what is now Hudson Middle School, serving grades 6-8. We currently serve 820 students with a highly qualified faculty and staff of 70 plus members. We currently have seven teachers who have been recognized as National Board Certified Teachers. In addition, our school has currently been recognized as a School of Excellence four straight years by the North Carolina ABC's Testing Accountability Program. This means that 90% or better of our students have scored a level 3 or higher on the State End-of-Grade tests in grades 6-8. Our school offers an excellent Fine Arts program and Enrichment programs to fully supplement the standard North Carolina Middle School curriculum. Our Band and Chorus receive countless awards each year and are involved in numerous competitions throughout the year. Our athletic program offers a variety of opportunities for our 7th and 8th graders. Sports offered are Football, Soccer, Softball, Wrestling, Basketball, Volleyball, Baseball and Cheerleading. Hudson Middle School also offers a variety of service centered school clubs where students are given the opportunity to be of service to others. These clubs include the Beta Club, Student Council, FCA /Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Art Club, Spanish Club and Yearbook. Our students and particularly the faculty representatives are known throughout our county for the excellent leadership and caring attitude needed to provide such opportunities for our students to become current and future community leaders as well as simply good people. We are very proud of our school and the tradition that it holds. At our school, that is so much more than just a slogan posted or painted on a school wall. It is something that is held very near and dear to those who work here. Come out and visit for yourself and see why "EVERYDAY IS A GOOD DAY HERE IN THE HIVE." Come and visit Hudson Middle School. We are located just off Highway 321 N on Pine Mountain Road directly behind the Department of Motor Vehicles Office. Hudson Middle School is nestled at the foothills of the western North Carolina mountains and provides a scenic and idyllic backdrop of Grandfather Mountain and all of the natural beauty our county has to offer. Our caring, competent and friendly faculty and staff, coupled with our high test scores and low student discipline makes Hudson Middle School a very special place to be and work.
