![]() Lower Creek is excited about offering single-gender classes for 5th graders this year. Last year we polled the interest of parents and students in 4th grade. We are thrilled so many were willing to participate in this new idea for our area. A parent information session was also held one evening. We have one class of girls and one class of boys. We will be watched and monitored by many and have ASU interested in targeting our data too.
South Carolina leads the way in this concept and we have attended training from them. All of our staff have had training to give teachers an idea of strategies that can be tried in their co-ed classroom. We are also doing a book study, Teaching the Male Brain, that we started at the end of last year. Many good ideas are being presented to also try in their classrooms. We will keep updates coming throughout the year on how these rooms are doing. If you would like to read more about the concept, go to the following website to learn more: www.ed.sc.gov/sgi |
