Service Students |
Service Students is a HES club for 4th and 5th graders that is all about what students can do for others! Last year we wrote letters to the troops, painted sun catchers for nursing home shut-ins, made blankets for Project Linus, and participated in Operation Christmas Child. Other meetings were spent making cat toys for the Humane Society, creating Valentine's cards for the Battered Women's Shelter in Lenoir, and collecting cans to raise money for the American Red Cross. It is for students who have a heart for others and like making things. Last year Service Students consisted of about 30 students, one teacher, and one assistant. This year we have tripled in growth! We have about 95 students on the roster and five teachers involved (Jennifer Baker, Traci Snyder, Melissa Stutts, Will Baker, and Amy Roop). There is a fifth grade meeting once a month and a fourth grade meeting monthly from 2:30-3:30. |
