Twenty-six fourth and fifth graders participated in Elementary Battle of the Books. We had to choose 12 students to go to the competition. It was very hard to choose only 12 because we had so many great readers on our team. The 12 chosen had read and tested on all 12 books and were good team players with lots of right answers during our practice rounds.

Our team did an awesome job during the competition. They placed 6th of 15  teams. They were good sports, too!

The books for 2010-2011 included:Ghost Soldier by Elaine Marie Alphin; Greetings from Nowhere by Barbara O'Connor; The Homework Machine by Dan Gutman; Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell; The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis; Love, Ruby Lavender by Deborah Wiles; Room One: A Mystery or Two by Andrew Clements; Savvy by Ingrid Laws; Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor; The Tale of Despereaux by Katie DiCamillo; Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume; and The Year of the Dog by Grace Lin.
