CONGRATULATIONS to Cathy Harmon, EC Teacher at Granite Falls Elementary School for being selected as the Caldwell County School's 2009-2010 Teacher of Excellence.  Cathy represented CCS at the Conference for Exceptional Children (CEC) in Greensboro, November 1-2, 2009 and was recognized in a state-wide banquet where she received a plaque to commemorate the occasion.  Family and friends were there to help celebrate her accomplishments, and the theme for this year was "Growing Our Own...Harvesting Results."

Cathy has been an EC teacher for 25 years and GFES has been blessed to have her service for her entire career.  She has served as a resource teacher but she also takes reponsibility for Granite Falls's EC program by acting as lead EC teacher.  She was the first EC teacher in the county to implement Responsiveness to Instruction (RTI) and she has helped lead this initiative for three years.

The Education Center EC Department staff is grateful to Cathy for her many years of service and her leadership in the field.
