Hello everyone! My name is Katie Swartz, and this is my 7th year teaching at Hibriten. I was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, but moved to Raleigh with my family when I was young. I went to Athens Drive High School, where I played soccer and ran cross country and track. This year, I am teaching English II, English III, and English IV. I am now the coach of the HHS Dance Team and the sponsor of the Future Teachers of America (FTA) club. I currently live in Boone. |

I graduated from Athens Drive High School in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2000. I then went on to attend Appalachian State University from the Fall of 2000 to May 2004. There, I earned a degree in English Secondary Education with a Minor in French. Before graduating, I completed my student teaching at Ashe County High School under Mrs. Becky Wells, who was an amazing mentor. After graduating, I recieved my first teaching job at Hibriten, starting in July 2004. I recently graduated with my Master's Degree in K-12 Reading Education at Appalachian in December 2009. |
