CIVICS AND ECONOMICS: Our objective this semester is to have an exciting, interesting, and practical study of government, law and economics. We will understand how our government works and why it is important, as good citizens, to take an active part in our government. We will also understand the operation of our economy, how it affects our lives, and how to be responsible with our money.
U.S. HISTORY: Our objective this semester is to study the history of the United States from an interesting, modern-day perspective. We will understand the principles on which our American experience is based and the history of our people from colonization through modern times. We will develop a greater appreciation for our nation.
SOUTHERN CULTURES: This new course developed by Mr. Spicer explores the various qualities that make the South a distinct region. Units of study include history, politics, music, art, religion, social structure, race, food, storytelling, myth and superstition. We have guest speakers, take an in-class field trip each unit of study, and do several research projects through the course of the semester. It's a very fun class!
