Freshman Orientation 2010
Freshman Orientation will be held Thursday, August 5, 2010. There are two different sessions. Please check the link at the top of the page for more information. All freshmen will receive a letter mid-July with details and the time to report to the school. Please call the school at 396-2188 if you do not receive your letter by August 1.
Teambuilding Field Trip
All freshmen will attend a teambuilding session with their English teacher at the Granite Falls Recreation Center to be scheduled in October. The sessions will be conducted by Bucky Thornburg, director of the Outdoor Adventures Program in Hickory. Cost to the student of $7 covers the cost of the director and the bus to the Rec Center. Sessions will be held from 8:30-11:30. The schedule of trips TBA:

Freshman Tailgate Party
The Freshman Tailgate Party will be held on Friday, October 22, 5:30-6:30 in the Administrative Parking lot. We invite our freshmen and their parents to come enjoy the food (free of charge) and good fellowship.
We encourage parents to become involved in your student's academic and extracurricular endeavors. We will keep you informed and updated regarding school events and other information specific to your Freshman student. Please contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
Our 9th graders will create their own CFNC (College Foundation of North Carolina) accounts during computer lab time in October. Please encourage your student to regularly visit the website and his/her personal account to keep it updated. This is the website they will use as seniors to apply to colleges online and to have their transcripts sent electronically. We also encourage parents to create their own accounts. There is a wealth of information regarding career planning, choosing a college, paying for college, etc. that parents may access. The website is

Students may purchase a lock ($5) any time during the school year. Replacement agendas/planners are available for $5.
ADVISORY
All students at South Caldwell participate in Advisory once a week, for 30 minutes. The Advisory Curriculum for Freshmen can be found on the South Caldwell Website.
